THE COLLAGEN GLOW

THE COLLAGEN GLOW

The Collagen Glow is the ultimate microneedling treatment for your face, neck, and décolleté. This specialised treatment can help you achieve younger-looking skin with a radiant glow without the need for Botox or fillers.

Collagen induction therapy, also referred to as micro-needling or percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. These proteins play a crucial role in maintaining skin elasticity, firmness, and overall health.

One of the significant advantages of The Collagen Glow treatment is that it is minimally invasive and requires little downtime. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, this treatment does not involve the use of harsh chemicals, heat, or surgery, making it a safe and effective option for most people.

Exploring Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen induction therapy harnesses the power of the body’s innate healing process. During the treatments, a specialised device with fine needles is used to create microscopic punctures in the skin. These minuscule wounds stimulate the body’s natural healing response, causing the release of growth factors and an increase in blood flow. Consequently, the production of fresh collagen and elastin fibers is activated, resulting in improved skin elasticity and firmness.

The numerous benefits The Collagen Glow treatments can provide for various skin concerns, include:

  1. Skin rejuvenation: The increase in collagen and elastin production results in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.
  2. Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles: By promoting collagen synthesis, collagen induction therapy can help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. Improvement of acne scars: The treatment can help break down scar tissue and encourage the growth of new, healthy skin cells, leading to a reduction in the visibility of acne scars.
  4. Enhanced skin tone and texture: Micro-needling can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, and even out skin tone.
  5. Minimisation of pigmentation includng sun spots and age spots: Collagen induction therapy can help fade pigmentation including sun spots and age spots, by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in the affected area.
  6. Enhanced absorption of skincare products: The microscopic channels created by the needles allow for better penetration of topical skincare products, increasing their effectiveness.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your microneedling treatment:

Avoid sun exposure.

It’s important to avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours before your microneedling treatment. Sunburned skin is not suitable for the treatment and can increase the risk of complications. Additionally, it’s recommended to avoid tanning beds for at least a week before your treatment.

Don’t use topical treatments.

Avoid using topical treatments that contain retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids, or beta-hydroxy acids for at least three days before your microneedling treatment. These ingredients can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of side effects.

Avoid blood-thinning medications.

If you’re taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, it’s important to avoid them for at least a week before your treatment. These medications can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding during the microneedling procedure.Howveer, DO NOT discontinue ANY precribed medictions without discussing it with your Doctor first.

Avoid alcohol.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your microneedling treatment. Alcohol can dehydrate your skin, making it more susceptible to injury during the procedure.

Cleanse your skin.

It’s important to cleanse your skin thoroughly before your microneedling treatment. This will help to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup that could interfere with the procedure. We recommend using a gentle, non-irritating cleanser.

Start taking Anti Virals.

Patients with a history of herpes simplex infections then anti viral medication is recommended and needs to be taken 1 day prior and continued for 6 days after to reduce the risk of a post sytreatment outbreak. This medication can be obtained from your Doctor.

By following these pre-treatment tips, you can help ensure the best possible results from your microneedling treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me. I am always here to help you achieve your skincare goals.

PRE
TReatment care

To ensure the best possible results from your microneedling treatment, it’s important to follow some pre-treatment advice.

Post TReatment care

It’s crucial to have a clear understanding of what to expect and how to care for your skin after treatment. This knowledge can help ensure that your skin stays healthy and radiant.

After your Collagen Glow  treatments, you may experience some minor temporary side effects, such as redness and swelling. These should subside within a few hours to a couple of days. To ensure the best possible outcome, I will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions, which will include the following:

  • Avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Refraining from using makeup, harsh cleansers, and exfoliants for a few days.
  • Applying a gentle moisturiser and any recommended skincare products.
  • Avoiding swimming pools, saunas, and hot tubs for a few days.
  • Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and promote healing.

The results of collagen induction therapy treatments are not immediate, as it takes time for your body to produce new collagen and elastin. You may start to see improvements in your skin within a few weeks, with the full effects typically visible after three to six months.

The duration of the results may vary depending on your skin condition, lifestyle factors, and the number of treatments received. For optimal results, I may recommend a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months to maintain the effects.
