Henna is a dye made from a plant called Lawsonia Inermis also known as the “Henna Tree” which is native to Africa, India and the middle east.
It’s leaves contain a pigment called “Lawsone” which combines with proteins to cause staining. Because of this staining quality, Henna has been used throughout the ages to dye hair and create body art designs.
After a henna stain reaches it’s peak colour, it gradually wears off the skin by way of exfoliation, typically within two weeks but can last on the hair for up to six weeks.
What are Henna Brows?
Henna Brows is a method of eyebrow tinting that stains the skin as well as the hair and gives the appearance of thicker, fuller looking brows.
If you want beautifully groomed brows with perfect shape and colour that lasts, then Henna Brows might just be the treatment for you.
Henna Brows are a great, natural way to stain the brows and the skin give you longer lasting colour and shape. A more natural, chemical free and longer lasting alternative to traditional tinting, perfect for those with sensitive skin.
Henna Brows give beautiful results that last without the commitment of microblading or permanent makeup. This treatment is also a great way for clients to test drive a shape and colour combination before taking the plunge with permanent makeup.
How do Henna Brows work?
The treatment begins with a consultation to determine what you want to achieve.
The brows are cleansed of any oils to ensure maximum staying power for the henna application.
Your brows are then measured and shaped to fit your face perfectly.
The Henna is carefully applied within the designed shape
The henna is then left to develop for up to 20 minutes depending on the look required.
Finally, the henna is removed to reveal perfectly shaped and defined brows.
Henna Brows : The Verdict
Henna Brows : Love it or Hate it?
Henna Brows had been doing the rounds for a few months prior to lockdown and offer a great alternative to traditional tinting. For clients who are allergic to regular brow tint and for those with sensitive skin, it’s a no brainer, plus this service offers a great way for new clients to test drive my services without committing to a permanent treatment – so it’s a big YES from me!
My plans are to add a brow bar menu to my services list by the end of the year which will include waxing, shaping and tinting of the brows as well as my top secret signature brow grooming treatment which I am keeping under wraps for now – but suffice to say, henna brows will definitely be one of the treatments I will be putting on my menu!
